Patton Oswalt Accidentally Reveals Marvel's Plans For Eternals Sequel, Oops!

As mentioned before in previous articles on our site, I have spoken about how many expected projects had appeared to be missed when Marvel Studios exec Kevin Feige took to the stage at San-Diego Comicon 2022. The atmosphere appeared to be electric as announcements of some new future projects for phases 5 and 6 were confirmed to be in the works. But there were some obvious titles that were nowhere to be seen. One of which included the potential for either a spin off show or a sequel for The Eternals.

In my honest opinion, I felt that The Eternals was one of, if not the weakest of the MCU film franchise. I couldn't connect with the characters in the same way that I immediately did with the likes of The Avengers for example. Plus, for the most of it, I was genuinely bored while watching. Despite these opinions of mine, it would be good to see what Marvel Studios can do in order to further develop some of the character's stories. I mean, I thought Kit Harrington as Dane Whitman was a good casting choice, but he was barely seen in the movie. This is probably the only character that I was able to form an attachment to, and it happened to be the one with the least amount of screen time. However it is clear to see from the post credit scenes that he and other characters have so much more of a story to tell. Including that of Harry Styles' Starfox (the brother of the mad Titan himself, Thanos) who had a brief scene with Pip the troll who was portrayed by comedian and actor Patton Oswalt.

Oswalt has made a recent appearance on The Today Show to speak about his upcoming projects, when one of the show's presenters questioned him on what it was like to work with singer Harry Styles. His answer to this was to joke about the history of the Starfox character within the Marvel Comics before then blurting out that he will be back with Styles in an Eternals Sequel as he says "they have announced there's going to be an Eternals sequel, with Chloe Zhao to direct". No, THEY (being Marvel Studios) have NOT yet announced this and I have no doubt that they would have announced it at the upcoming Disney D23 Expo in September. Well, now THEY don't need to as it's already been done for them. Oops!

It would appear that the comedian has accidentally taken a page out of the same book as Mark Ruffalo and Tom Holland, by revealing such news. I think a certain Mr. Feige may not be best pleased with this. Either way, all I'm hoping for is that the sequel is far better than the first and it will be interesting which direction of storylines that The Eternals will be diverted to.
